For the last three decades, there is a substantial shortfall in availability of potable water in less developed countries, primarily arising from industrial contamination and pollution. As per the “World Health Organization” (WHO) more than one billion i.e. 20 percent of the world’s people, are use safe water for drinking, personal hygiene and domestic use.  In USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA) & Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates bottled water as a food product. Parameters for drinking water quality typically fall under two categories: chemical / physical and microbiological. Chemical / physical parameters include heavy metals, trace organics, total suspended solids and turbidity. Microbiological parameters include Coli form bacteria, E. coli, and specific pathogenic species of bacteria such as cholera, viruses, and protozoan parasites.

Chlorine treated water result in nervous disorders and this method of water treatment is used all over the region. More over the conventional method of purifying water likes filtration, chlorination, tap attachment and boiling are not totally effective and safe and it is time and energy consuming and expensive too.
